In January, we'll continue our adventure south of the border with Drew and Donna Holloway. They'll describe a bit more about the trip last year, and how they spent their New Year's day

Out west, we'll go to Monterey, California. A popular destination at any time, this once thriving canning empire, now turned tourist attraction, is a great destination in the middle of winter when the normal tourist crowds are gone.

Monterey's Cannery Row
In the 60s, Monterey's Cannery Row was a derilect pile of abandoned canneries and warehouses. The sardine industry had ran its course, and nothing was left but riun and waste. The Monterey Bay Aquarium, constructed in the 80s, changed all that. Today Monterey is a thirving tourist center, and a great place to spend a few days. Photo by Don Fink

On the eastern shore, we'll go to Charleston, South Carolina. Rich in history and a great destination, this too is a great off season getaway.
