Ad pricing and graphical layout

Ad Placement -There are three places to put up ads on most pages. The left and right sidebars, and the bottom banner just about the footers.

  1. The right sidebar, where ads can be up to 160 pixels wide, and usually about 300 pixels long. This is a vertical format.
  2. The right sidebar on many pages can also accommodate ads that are 600 pixels long, as depicted here.
  3. The left Sidebar, which is also 160 pixels wide and about 350 long. This too is a vertical layout.
  4. The bottom banner, wide ad. This ad is 140 pixels tall, by 550 wide. This layout is horizontal.
  5. The bottom small ad, which is 140 pixels tall by 270 wide. A horizontal layout too.

Every effort will be made to place the ad on the page of your choice, but RV Adventure Magazine will reserve the right to place your ad on a page that seems to fit your ad type, and our layout. Of course, if you buy a vertical ad, it will always be in a vertical space, but we cannot always guarantee the exact page it will appear on.

In this example, the bottom banners appear quite a distance down the page. This won't usually be the case because efforts will be made to lay out ads with as little "dead" space on the page as possible. The reason this particular page displayed this way is because both a long and short ad are displaying in the right sidebad; a condition that normally won't be found unless enough text is available to fill up the space in the main body.

What's a pixel? - A pixel is a dot on the monitor. Monitors display 72 dots per inch (dpi), so a 160px X 350px ad will be roughly 2.2 inches wide by 4.8 inches tall (55mm X 121mm).

What's included in the price? - Our advertising process is a little different than many internet advertising systems. In many systems, ads are pooled with other ads and display for the time that you've paid for. Once the ad expires, it ceases to exist anywhere on the web site. When you advertise on our site, your ad remains on the page it's displayed on even after the time period for your ad expires. As an example, suppose you purchase an ad for July 2008. Later, in January, 2009, when a reader looks at July 2008 as a back issue, your ad is still there just like it would be in a paper magazine.

In addition, a link to your web site will be added to our commercial links page. This page is dynamic, however, and shows only current advertisers.

Graphical types - We can accept many different ad types. From standard text to graphics, to photographs. All graphical ads will be converted to .JPG image files, and will include a link to the web site of your choice, which will most likely be your web site.

For advertisers not familiar with the requirements outlined above, we'll work with you to get things right.

Prices for ads in the links section will be $30.00 for 12 consecutive months.

On the Links pages, we'll be placing paid commercial links. For businesses, RV parks, and just about anything other than not for profit organizations and RV clubs, we'll be placing a link with a graphic about the size of the box on the left.

Payment - Payment is expected before the first ad runs. The price for an ad will cover 12 consecutive ads in 12 issues.

The method of payment will normally be electronic funds transfer, which is easier than you might think. When we agree on an ad, layout, and so on, and it's time to bill for the service, we will send you an electronic invoice. This invoice is actually generated through our Pay-Pal account. You can pay with your Pay-Pal account if you have one, or by a credit card, or by electronic funds transfer from your existing checking account.

We never see your credit card number, or your checking account number. This process is handled by Pay-Pal. We believe this is the most secure way we can do business.

Some folks don't want to do business with Pay-Pal. For them, we can accept normal checks. To do this, we'll provide you with a mailing address, and you can send a check for payment. Our best guess is that you can allow about 8-12 weeks for this process to occur. We are full time RVers, and use a mail forwarding service in Florida. We perodically receive our mail when we're in a location long enough, but receiving payment through "snail mail" will take some time.
